Robust identification and control of batch processes
نویسندگان
چکیده
An approach is proposed for the robust identification and control of batch and semibatch processes. The batch experiments used for model identification are designed by minimizing the magnitude of the parameter uncertainties, and the effect of these uncertainties on the product quality achievable by optimal control is used as a stopping criterion for the identification procedure. The optimal control approach incorporates a quantification of the impact of both parameter and control implementation uncertainties on the performance of the optimal control policy. The approach is applied to the nucleation and growth of crystals with multiple characteristic dimensions, where the nominal parameters used in the simulation study are quantified from experimental data. # 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. A system identification approach for developing model predictive controllers of antibody quality attributes in cell culture processes
As the biopharmaceutical industry evolves to include more diverse protein formats and processes, more robust control of Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs) is needed to maintain processing flexibility without compromising quality. Active control of CQAs has been demonstrated using model predictive control techniques, which allow development of processes which are robust against disturbances asso...
متن کاملRobust Identification of Smart Foam Using Set Mem-bership Estimation in A Model Error Modeling Frame-work
The aim of this paper is robust identification of smart foam, as an electroacoustic transducer, considering unmodeled dynamics due to nonlinearities in behaviour at low frequencies and measurement noise at high frequencies as existent uncertainties. Set membership estimation combined with model error modelling technique is used where the approach is based on worst case scenario with unknown but...
متن کاملOnline Monitoring for Industrial Processes Quality Control Using Time Varying Parameter Model
A novel data-driven soft sensor is designed for online product quality prediction and control performance modification in industrial units. A combined approach of time variable parameter (TVP) model, dynamic auto regressive exogenous variable (DARX) algorithm, nonlinear correlation analysis and criterion-based elimination method is introduced in this work. The soft sensor performance validation...
متن کاملOpen-loop and closed-loop robust optimal control of batch processes using distributional and worst-case analysis
The recognition that optimal control trajectories for batch processes can be highly sensitive to model uncertainties has motivated the development of methods for explicitly addressing robustness during batch processes. This study explores the incorporation of robust performance analysis into open-loop and closed-loop optimal control design. Several types of robust performance objectives are inv...
متن کاملOptimization of A Fed-Batch Fermenter Producing Bakerâs Yeast Using Simulated Annealing Method
Modeling of fermentation processes is so complicated and uncertain; therefore it is necessary to provide a robust and appropriate dynamic optimization method. In order to obtain the maximum amount of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), the bioreactor must be operated under optimal conditions. To determine substrate feeding in a fed-batch bioreactor, a simulated annealing (SA) approach was examine...
